DETROIT AND RETIREMENT SAVINGS

The following article is not only a wake up call to employees but also a lesson to young Americans who live life as if they will never face retirement age. The vote that is cast today that embraces big government and banks too big to fail as well as employers who promise the retirement benefits moon, may not be there to fulfill their lofty promises in the future. 

With Detroit's retirees facing a 90% cut in their promised benefits, municipalities all around the country should reassess their political and philosophical agendas. Government that is too big to fail may end up being the proverbial "if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is." 

Personal retirement accounts, though heavily dependent on the self control of the individual to save and invest wisely from beginning to end of employment, may end up being the most viable option. Trusting the government to look out for the little guy is not a retirement option that I choose to place my bet on.

DETROIT: THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS

When Alice fell down the rabbit whole in the children's book, "Through The Looking Glass," she arrived in a freaky world that didn't make any sense to her during her stay there. However, when she awakened to her own world, it was her world that made  more sense than before,  having seen the insanity of "Wonderland." Unfortunately we do not learn from fiction OR from history. As we watch the bankruptcy of a once vibrant Detroit take place, we should look to the play by play policies that led to this tragic end. If that were not bad enough, there is even talk of a truly "down the rabbit hole" move to bail Detroit out, using tax payer dollars! Curiouser and curiouser...

NON-DISCLOSURE ON BENGHAZI (House Resolution 36)

 do you silence witnesses of murder and violation of international law? How do you keep the truth of an event from surfacing? How do you keep the American people in the dark about the truth of the night of September 11, 2012? First, you pretend that it didn't happen and hope it will go away. Second, you stall the process and hope the American people will forget. Third, you make the witnesses sign a contract mandating that they keep silent. That should just about do it. It is always in the best interest of the Americans to hear from others across the pond as to how they see the USA. Though the ideology of Clare Daly may not be a Tea Party ideology (she is a member of the Northern Ireland left), her true grit is compelling and her arguments worth hearing, even if only as a mentor for courage to stand in the face of opposition. Her discourse is worth your time. Her courage is a reminder that every voice counts and every silent martyr does so fatally. May we learn to stand up and speak out.

We are in the throes of Common Core Standards warfare and the public is uninformed and disinterested in how this will change the landscape of education.  With historic statistics within failing schools, the bureaucrats are poised to hoist upon an already fragile public educational system an educational laboratory test using our young people as lab rats.  We are failing the at risk communities and the nation as a whole under the guise of innovation.
