This is alarming: Dr. Diane Harper, a leading expert responsible for the Phase II and Phase III safety and effectiveness studies undertaken in order to secure the approval of the human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccines, Gardasil™ and Cervarix™, claimed that they don’t work, are dangerous, were not properly tested and are deceptively marketed. Dr. Harper is reported to have “confessed” at the 4th International Conference on Vaccination which took place in Reston, Virginia “so that she could sleep at night”. [1]
Dr. Harper explained that the side effects of the vaccine outweigh the positives, stating that the risk of cervical cancer the U.S. is already extremely low, and that vaccinations are unlikely to have any effect upon the rate of cervical cancer in the United States. Pap screening programs have reduced the incidence of cervical cancer dramatically to 7 in 100,000 in developed countries. [2]
70% of all HPV infections resolve without treatment within one year, and the number rises to well over 90% in two years. It was also noted that all trials of the vaccines were done on children aged 15 and above, despite the product currently being marketed for 9-year-olds.
The biggest problem of the vaccine however is the dangerous side effects: Between 1 June 2006 and 31 December 2008, 12,424 reports were submitted to the US Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) regarding Gardasil™ after about 23 million doses total. Serious adverse events included venous thromboembolism, 69 cases [3] of Guillain-Barre syndrome (paralysis lasting for years, or permanently – sometimes eventually causing suffocation), autoimmune disorders, pancreatitis, anaphylaxis, transverse myelitis, motor neuron disease [2][4] and 107 deaths (Gardasil™ and Cervarix™ up to November 2012 [1]).
It is quite possible that the actual number of adverse events is much higher than this – because the figure of 12,424 only reflects the number of families who went to all the trouble of reporting adverse reactions. [4] Gardasil™ has been implemented in the national vaccination programs of several countries, with over 178 million doses distributed worldwide.
About eight in every ten women who have been sexually active will have HPV at some stage of their life. Normally there are no symptoms, and in 98 per cent of cases it clears itself. (Dr. Diane Harper) The vaccine only works on 4 strains (6/11/16/18) out of 40 for a specific venereal disease that almost always dies on its own. [4]
To quote Dr. Harper:
“The benefit to public health is nothing, there is no reduction in cervical cancers, they are just postponed, unless the protection lasts for at least 15 years, and over 70% of all sexually active females of all ages are vaccinated.” She has also stated that side effects of Gardasil™ have indicated that the vaccine could prove riskier than the cervical cancer it purports to prevent. Cervical cancer is usually entirely curable when detected early through normal Pap screenings.
And to quote Sarah C. Corriher:
Why do nine-year-old girls need vaccinations for symptom-less venereal diseases that their immune systems kill anyway? Moreover, why are parents not being told that the ingredients in the vaccine are more carcinogenic than the virus that the vaccine is intended to prevent? [4]
It’s not the only occasion on which the vaccine’s developer, Merck, has been in trouble: In 2010 two virologists, Stephen Krahling and Joan Wlochowski, filed a lawsuit against their former employer Merck, alleging that Merck defrauded the U.S. for over 10 years by overstating the MMR vaccine’s effectiveness. The virologists claim in their lawsuit that they “witnessed firsthand the improper testing and data falsification in which Merck engaged to artificially inflate the vaccine’s efficacy findings.” [5]
The orthodox medical community continues to regard these vaccines as “generally safe”, despite acknowledging that the safety of Gardasil™ and Cervarix™ have been questioned and noting “that autoimmune side effects have been reported in several studies” [6] though one study has claimed that the incidence of autoimmune effects is the same as in unvaccinated populations. [7]
And then on the other hand we have the reports of users, which do seem rather numerous… such as this one “One dose of this and it knocked me out for a week, never finished the series because I thought I was dying”. [8]
For an interesting alternative – maybe consider Papaya? A study has found that Papaya May Cut Cervical Cancer Risk by 81% in Women With HPV. [9]
