Jon Stewart Expertly Mocks ’Totally Incompetent’ IRS and Its Scandal Excuses: ‘Borders on Criminal Idiocy’

Comedian Jon Stewart expertly mocked the Internal Revenue Service on Tuesday over the latest developments in the IRS scandal, saying “our government’s handling of information across all platforms borders on criminal idiocy.”

Stewart expressed his disbelief that the IRS could lose years of Lois Lerner’s emails and have no way to recover them, especially when the tax agency requires Americans to act like “borderline hoarders” with information for tax purposes.

Plus, IRS Commissioner John Koskinen did his best to keep the “scandal stink” strong by his performance during the recent House committee hearings on the targeting scandal.

He also laughed at the IRS’ claim that at the time of Lerner’s hard drive “crash,” the IRS only had an email quota of 150 megabytes per mailbox. That’s 1 percent of what Gmail offers users for free, Stewart noted.

“And that comes with a Google Plus account for you… not to use,” he joked. “If there is a larger scandal here, it’s that our government’s handling of information across all platforms borders on criminal idiocy.”

Of course, Stewart took a few shots at Republicans for alleging President Barack Obama is involved in the IRS scandal despite the lack of hard evidence. He did, however, admit that the IRS comes off as “totally incompetent.”
