CHAMPAIGN, IL - With a new Republican governor and a GOP majority in the U.S. Congress, Republican women are energized to bring some of that Republican wave to the Illinois General Assembly. After twelve years with no organization, Republican women in the Champaign area launched a new group Saturday.

"Republican Women Champaign County is pleased to participate as the newest organization and affiliate to the Illinois Federation of Republican Women and National Federation of Republican Women," said Stephanie Holderfield, the group's new president.

The new group met the ten member requirement as well as three affiliate memberships, giving the RWCC charter status with the Illinois Federation of Republican Women.

"We, in Champaign County, have renewed our interest in having an organization geared towards reaching out to women that are like-minded, and committed to bringing about change to our community," Holderfield said. "The goal of the RWCC is to enlist women from all economic and social backgrounds, abilities and talents to achieve a cohesive relationship within the Champaign County GOP."

Attending the premiere event were State Senator Chapin Rose, House Representative Chad Hays, and IFRW Membership Chair Jayne Lehman Raef.

Several locally elected officials came, including Gordy Hulten County Clerk, J.J. Farney County Auditor, Linda Frank former Circuit Clerk, Karen Foster and Deb Frank Feinen both Champaign City Council and Mayoral Candidates, Brian Kelly Vice-Chair CCGOP and Gary Maxwell Champaign County Board.
