WASHINGTON DC -John Haltiwanger of Elite Daily thinks the Democrats would have held control in the U.S. Senate if millenials had voted.
"Why did Republicans destroy Democrats in this election?" asks Haltiwanger. "There’s a very simple answer to this: most young liberals didn't vote and Democrats didn't vote where it mattered the most.
Voters between the ages of 18 and 29 only accounted for about 13 percent of the electorate. Contrarily, older voters turned out in much greater numbers.
Haltiwanger writes that "exit poll data for the midterms show that around 55 percent of Millenials voted for Democrat candidates. The problem is, however, that not enough young people turned out to vote in key states. Likewise, individuals aged 45 and older not only turned out in greater numbers, they also voted predominately Republican."
